About 140 years ago, James William Harmsworth began apprenticing as a painter in the village of Woking, in his native England. By the 1870's the master painter and expert butcher decided to emigrate to Canada, settling in Cheltenham with his wife Harriet and two young children. By 1890, Harmsworth had founded a namesake paint & wallpaper business, assisted by his son James. Great-great grandsons, David and Scott are carrying on the family decorating tradition into a fifth generation as Brampton's oldest family-operated business celebrating it's 113th anniversary.
